DC Ganderbal holds Public Outreach programme at Sonamarg

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 29: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today conducted a Public Outreach programme at Sonamarg to review public issues and ensure timely delivery of services, especially in view of the upcoming winter season.

A large gathering of residents from Sonamarg, Gund, Shutkari, Kullen, Gagangeer and adjoining villages participated in the programme. Officers from all line departments were also present.

During the public interaction, locals raised issues related to road connectivity, water supply, power, healthcare, education, solid waste management, wildlife safety, land compensation, tourism facilities and winter preparedness among others.

DC address several grievances on the spot and issued directions for macdamization of link roads, upgradation of PMGSY roads, strengthening of drinking water supply and ensuring adequate power supply in Sonamarg.

Officers and heads of departments responded to the queries and grievances of the people pertaining to their departments.

Health-related demands including installation of digital X-ray machine, availability of ambulance and medical preparedness for winter were also raised and directions issued to ensure prompt redressal.

Responding to community concerns about tourism and youth engagement, DC said that Sonamarg has immense potential for winter sports and urged the Youth Services and Sports department to organise activities like ice skating and skiing.

DC appreciated public participation and emphasised that the administration is committed to ensuring an efficient and responsive governance and service delivery mechanism.

Addressing the Darbar, DC assured that all departments will remain fully mobilised throughout winter and that action-taken reports will be monitored closely.
