Srinagar: The Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (KIMST), Srinagar celebrated World Pharmacists Day with great zeal and enthusiasm in the college campus.
The programme was organized by the students of D.Pharma under the supervision of Pharmacy faculty. The theme for World Pharmacists Day 2026 as declared by International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) is “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.”
The programme commenced with Tilawat-e-Quran, followed by Naat-e-Shareef. The function was presided over by the Director of the institute, Dr. Hafizullah Naik.
The event was graced by Dr. Fahmeeda as the Guest of Honour. In her address, Dr. Fahmeeda highlighted the evolving role of pharmacists in modern healthcare and stressed on ethical practice and patient counselling.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Dr. Hafizullah Naik congratulated the pharmacy department and said, “Pharmacists are the backbone of the healthcare system. Without their knowledge, no health system can succeed.”
Principal Dr. Asmat Parveen in her address appreciated the efforts of the students for organizing the programme in a very short time and motivated the students to uphold the dignity of the pharmacy profession.
Vice Principal Nursing, Mr. G.A. Mir and Vice Principal Allied Health, Ms. Nadisha also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the students for their creativity and hard work.
The major attractions of the programme were:
– Informative speeches on the importance of pharmacy
– Creative Poster Presentation by D.Pharma students
– An educational Skit on the role of pharmacist
– Stand-up Comedy and Jokes segment which enthralled the audience
– The programme concluded with refreshment for all
The whole programme was successfully coordinated by faculty members Mr. Sajad and Mr. Basharat Faculty of pharmacy along with the D.Pharma students Mr Faiq.
In the end, a formal vote of thanks was presented.
