Srinagar, 5 Oct: National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign emphasizing the critical need to maintain clear Rights-of-Way on National Highways.
The campaign, conducted at various strategic locations along National Highway 244, seeks to inform the public about the severe consequences of encroachments. These encroachments not only disrupt traffic flow but also pose significant safety risks to motorists, pedestrians, and local communities. NHIDCL officials highlighted that blocked Rights-of-Way can lead to accidents, increased travel times, and overall deterioration of road safety.
“This initiative is crucial for ensuring safer highways. We aim to educate citizens about the dangers of encroachments and the importance of respecting designated Rights-of-Way,” stated an NHIDCL official during the event. The campaign is particularly timely, aligning with recommendations from the Parliamentary Standing Committee and directives issued by the Supreme Court, which stress the urgent need for action against illegal encroachments on national highways.
Local residents expressed their support for the campaign, recognizing its importance. The NHIDCL is committed to fostering a sense of community responsibility, urging citizens to actively participate in preserving the integrity of national highways.
To further enhance public engagement, the campaign includes distribution of informational materials and guidelines on how to report encroachments effectively. The NHIDCL encourages everyone to join in the effort to ensure that our highways remain safe and accessible for all users.
