Ganderbal: A joint team comprising officials from the Food Safety Department, Legal Metrology, Police, and Drug Control Department conducted an extensive market inspection in the main market areas of Kangan and Wussan. The inspection was conducted under the supervision of Naib Tehsildar Kangan and Plang.
During the drive, erring traders were fined a total of ₹4,400 for violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the Commodities Act. Samples of various food items were collected for laboratory analysis, and one Food Business Operator (FBO) was recommended for compounding under Section 69 of the FSS Act. Additionally, expired snacks and chips were destroyed on the spot to ensure public safety.
The authorities have stated that the inspection drive will continue across the district to ensure strict compliance with the FSS Act, 2006. Traders and FBOs found violating the law will face stringent action.
