Ganderbal, Dec 5: The Ganderbal Press Association (GPA) conducted fresh elections on Thursday, electing a new leadership team to represent the district’s journalists. The elections were held at the Government Degree College Auditorium, Ganderbal, with ten candidates competing for various posts.

Out of 36 registered voters, 35 cast their votes, leading to the formation of a new governing body. Sofi Ayaz, affiliated with PTI and Times Now, was elected as the President.

The other elected members include:

Vice President: Raja Syed Rather (ANI & KNO)

General Secretary: Sabik (Kashmir Crown)

Treasurer: Basit Farooq (The Kashmiriyat & Young Bites)

Spokesperson: Hadi Hidayat

In his inaugural address, Sofi Ayaz vowed to prioritize the interests and rights of journalists in Ganderbal, assuring unwavering support and commitment.

The newly elected members pledged to work within the constitutional framework of the association to strengthen journalism in the region.

The GPA expressed appreciation to Snowland Hotels and Resorts Sonamarg, Star Knights, New Dreamland Educational Institution Ganderbal, and Master Mechanics Ganderbal for their valuable support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections.
