Srinagar, Jan 11: BJP J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur hailed the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel as a landmark achievement, calling it a “game-changer” for tourism, connectivity, and economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
The 6.5-kilometer all-weather tunnel connects Gagangir to Sonamarg, ensuring year-round access to the picturesque valley previously cut off during winters. “Sonamarg is a jewel of Kashmir, and this tunnel will keep it open year-round, boosting tourism and creating employment opportunities,” Thakur stated.
He emphasized the tunnel’s role in driving economic prosperity by reducing travel time, facilitating trade, and encouraging investments in the region. Thakur also praised the central government for prioritizing infrastructure projects in J&K, including the ongoing Zojila Tunnel.
“This tunnel is not just about connectivity—it’s a gateway to progress and prosperity for our region,” he concluded.
