Ganderbal, Feb 7: The Food Safety Department Ganderbal conducted a rigorous inspection of roadside eateries in Kangan’s main market on Friday to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
The inspection drive was led by Designated Officer Food Safety, Shiraz Ahmad Mir, along with a team of Food Safety Officers. During the inspection, vendors were instructed to strictly follow Schedule-4 of the FSS Act-2006 and its Rules & Regulations (2011) concerning hygiene, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
Officials also destroyed unhygienic and rotten food on the spot and warned violators of strict action. Furthermore, several challans under Section 56 of the FSS Act are set to be filed against offenders in the competent court.
The department has urged all food vendors to maintain hygiene standards, emphasizing that non-compliance will invite strict legal action.
