During the inspection, authorities imposed a fine of Rs 6000 on erring shopkeepers under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006, and its Rules & Regulations, 2011. Several food vendors were found violating hygiene standards, and a large quantity of rotten vegetables and food items was seized and destroyed on the spot.

An official told Srinagar Mail that the drive aims to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for consumers. He further warned traders against selling substandard or expired food products, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against violators. Officials also assured that such inspections would continue in the future to uphold food safety standards.
