Pulwama: A group of youth volunteers is making a significant impact in the lives of homeless individuals in the Check area of Awantipora, South Kashmir. Operating under the banner of the Kashmir Youth Courage Foundation (KYC), also known as Team KYC, these young individuals have been selflessly serving homeless people for several months.

Initially, the group focused on maintaining hygiene for the homeless, but their efforts quickly expanded. Recognizing the need for a more permanent solution, the KYC team established a shelter home where they now serve dozens of homeless individuals, providing them with food, clothing, and other essential items.

Musadiq Bashir, a youth from Awantipora and the leader of Team KYC, explained that his initial work was focused on improving the hygiene of homeless individuals. However, as the need grew, he and his team decided to establish a shelter that could accommodate around 20 individuals at a time. “It started with simple efforts to maintain hygiene, but soon it became clear that a more permanent solution was needed. Now, we have created a safe space where people can find shelter, food, and basic necessities,” said Bashir.

Arshid Hussain, another volunteer, emphasized the responsibility of youth in society. “As young people, we have the responsibility to contribute to society in whatever way we can,” he said. The volunteer acknowledged the crucial support they have received from the people in making their vision a reality.
