Ganderbal, May 23: A forest guard went missing on Friday after reportedly slipping into the fierce waters of Nallah Sindh in the Paribal Shallabugh area of Ganderbal while on duty.
The missing personnel has been identified as Shameem Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir and a resident of Batwina, Ganderbal.
Following the incident, a joint rescue operation was swiftly launched by the Ganderbal Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Forest Department, and local volunteers. Despite strong water currents and tough terrain, the search operation remains in full swing.
Speaking to Srinagar Mail, DFO Ganderbal Iqbal Rasool Dar (IFS) stated: “We are making every possible effort to trace Shameem Ahmad Mir. Our teams are on the ground, and we appreciate the support shown by the locals”
The incident has sparked deep concern among the forest protection staff and residents, who continue to hope for a breakthrough in the ongoing operation.
