Srinagar: Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo, conducted an extensive tour of various schools in the Uri sector, particularly focusing on those affected by recent cross-border shelling. In a significant gesture of encouragement and outreach, sports kits were distributed among the students of these impacted schools to promote physical well-being and boost morale.

A mega function was organized at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Uri, where students, staff, and dignitaries gathered to witness the event. Addressing the gathering, Dr. G.N. Itoo emphasized the department’s strong commitment to ensuring quality education in far-flung and border areas of Kashmir. He highlighted the importance of introducing digital platforms and modern infrastructure like Atal Tinkering Labs, which aim to transform the educational experience and prepare students for the challenges of the future.

“Remote and border regions of Kashmir are at the top of the department’s priority list,” Dr. Itoo stated, reaffirming that all possible facilities and support systems will be provided to these areas on a priority basis.

During the visit, Dr. Itoo also inspected several schools in the region, personally reviewing the infrastructure, academic environment, and resources available to students and staff. He interacted with both students and teachers to assess needs and gather feedback to further improve the delivery of quality education.

Dr. G.N. Itoo was accompanied by the Joint Director, North Kashmir, and other senior officers from the School Education Department.

The visit reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to bridge the educational gap in remote regions and foster an environment of learning, resilience, and opportunity despite the challenges posed by geographical and security constraints.
