World Environment Day celebrated with fervour by NCC cadets in Kupwara

Kupwara, 05 June : World Environment Day was observed with great enthusiasm in Kupwara on 5″ June 2025 through a series of awareness and green initiatives organized by the 7 J&K Battalion NCC, under aegis of Vajr Division, Kupwara.

The event saw active participation from over 70 NCC cadets from local schools and colleges, aimed at promoting environmental consciousness and community involvement.

The day commenced with an Environmental Awareness Rally, which began near the JK Tourism Office, Kupwara and concluded at ‘Parcham-e-Hind’ at Vajr Division. Cadets walked through the town carrying placards related to environmental protection.

During the rally. bilingual pamphlets in English and Urdu were distributed among the public, highlighting the importance of World Environment Days and sharing practical dos and Don’ts far environmentally responsible behavior.

As part of the event, a Clean Kupwara Campaign was also conducted, wherein cadets collected plastic waste in the Kupwara market area. Wearing gloves and using garbage bags the cadets demonstrated civic responsibility and set an example for the community.

A Tree Plantation Drive was also carried out at Paracham-e-Hind, where over 100 saplings were planted by the cadets and dignitaries.

The initiative was supported by the Forest Department, with sapllngs provided by Mr. Anurag, DFO Kupwara.

Cadets also vlslted ‘Roshan Mustaqbil’ run by Vajr Division, and interacted with the children already benefitting from the initiative.

The event concluded with a solemn Eco-Pledge Ceremony where cadets took an oath to protect the environment and practice sustainable habits in daily life

The event was well-received by the local residents and civil authorities, showcasing the Indian Army’s and NCC’s continued commitment to social responsibility and environmental conservation .
