Srinagar: Government Degree College (GDC) Hyderpora on Wednesday organized a blood donation camp, in collaboration with its Red Ribbon Club, National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, and Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad. The initiative aimed to promote voluntary blood donation as a noble act of saving lives while raising awareness about its critical importance.
The camp, held on the college premises, was marked by meticulous arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient donation process—reflecting the institution’s strong commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by Principal Dr. Sharief Ud Din Khan, who highlighted the significance of blood donation and underscored the role of youth in humanitarian causes. He urged students to actively participate in such life-saving initiatives.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across all semesters, as well as faculty members, who demonstrated a strong sense of civic responsibility. The blood donation process was conducted under the supervision of medical professionals and volunteers, with proper health screenings and adherence to safety protocols.
A large number of students and faculty members came forward to donate blood. To ensure donors’ well-being, refreshments including juice, bananas, and eggs were provided. Volunteers coordinated the arrangements effectively, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants.
The event concluded on a positive note, with overwhelming participation and an atmosphere of unity and compassion. The collective efforts of the Red Ribbon Club, NSS Unit, and Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad were instrumental in its success. Beyond blood collection, the camp also served as an educational platform, spreading awareness among students about the importance of regular blood donation and its vital role in saving lives.
