Pulwama: The farmers of Jammu and Kashmir, the backbone of our economy and guardians of our land, are facing unprecedented financial distress, said Congress leader Umer Jaan. “Despite repeated appeals, the government has chosen to ignore their urgent demand for the waiver of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans,” he said.

He further said that, “Agricultural families are crushed under debt due to repeated crop losses, low market prices, and a lack of institutional support. Fruit growers and small farmers, who sustain our rural economy, are being pushed toward despair and poverty. The government’s failure to provide relief is nothing short of a betrayal of the trust placed in it by the people.”

In a statement, Congress District President Pulwama Umer Jaan has said that, “This administration had promised to stand with farmers, yet today their silence speaks volumes about misplaced priorities. At a time when immediate intervention is needed to protect livelihoods, the government has abandoned those who feed the region.”

His demands are: Immediate waiver of KCC loans for small and marginal farmers, Financial relief packages for fruit growers and orchardists affected by market crashes and natural calamities, Long-term reforms to secure fair pricing, crop insurance, and infrastructural support.
