Srinagar, September 22: Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), in collaboration with EnAble India, inaugurated a three-day Life Skills Training Workshop today at the VMS Auditorium, Srinagar. The program, scheduled from 22nd to 24th September 2025, is designed to strengthen emotional intelligence, resilience, and essential life skills among Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), enabling them to lead confident, independent, and fulfilling lives.
The training introduces participants to the Manomaya Life Skills Program, a holistic approach that emphasizes mental well-being and emotional regulation through frameworks such as the Pancha Koshas and the innovative Manomaya Vaccine—a protective model that equips individuals with coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges.
During the workshop, participants will engage in interactive sessions on:
• Understanding and managing emotions
• Anger and anxiety management
• Empathy and relationship skills
• Personal hygiene and grooming
• Growth mindset, self-talk, and thought management
• Team building, goal setting, and decision-making
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Bashir Ahmad Lone with a welcome address, followed by Prof. (Dr.) Mir Mohammad Maqbool, who delivered the opening remarks. Prof. Masooda Yaseen shared valuable insights on the importance of life skills, while Mr. Mohammad Haneef, Owner of Haneef Motors, shared his observations on the initiative. Dr. Sudha Srikanth, Project Head – Manomaya, EnAble India, highlighted the purpose and vision behind the training, and Er. Mushtaq Ahmad Malik presented the vote of thanks.
This workshop is expected to make a meaningful impact by enhancing self-awareness, fostering emotional resilience, and strengthening social connections among Persons with Disabilities(Divyangjan).
