Ganderbal Police Crack Down on Gambling; Four Arrested, Cash and Cards Seized

Ganderbal, 8 Oct: In a decisive move to curb social crimes and maintain public order, Ganderbal Police arrested four gamblers and seized stake money along with playing cards and mobile phones during a swift operation in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal.

Acting on specific information, a police party from PS Ganderbal conducted a surprise raid at Badurkund. Upon noticing the police team, the gamblers attempted to escape; however, the alert personnel acted promptly and apprehended all four accused on the spot.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ghulam Mohd Mir S/o Mohd Jamal Mir R/o Buderkund, Mahraj Ud Din Khan S/o Noor Mohd Khan R/o Giraj Ganderbal, Irshad Ahmad Shoda S/o Ghulam Mohd Shoda R/o Giraj, and Lateef Ahmad Shoda S/o Ghulam Qadir Shoda R/o Shah Sahib Saloora Ganderbal.

During the raid, the police recovered ₹8,590 in stake money, playing cards, and four mobile phones. In this regard, FIR No.165/2025 under the relevant sections of the Gambling Act has been registered at PS Ganderbal, and further investigation has been initiated.

Ganderbal Police reiterated its commitment to wipe out social crimes from society and urged the public to stay away from unlawful activities. Citizens have been requested to extend their cooperation in eradicating the menace of gambling and other anti-social activities.
