Srinagar, April 21: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday said that a dialogue between the Government of India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir is imperative to bridge the trust deficit. He was addressing a workers’ gathering today in Humhama, where he inaugurated the party’s new office.

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said that “Apni Party’s aim is to establish a kind of politics in Jammu and Kashmir in which there is no scope for hatred, negativity, or violence.” He further said, “We want to give the politics of Jammu and Kashmir a new direction in order to make it beneficial for the people of this land.”

Speaking on the economic aspect of Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party president said, “We want a financial structure to be established here that will ensure the complete elimination of poverty in Jammu and Kashmir. No one should remain poor here. Every individual should be on the path of development and progress.” “For this, we need economic restructuring. Local resources have not been properly managed here. Due to negligence in managing these resources, Jammu and Kashmir has remained economically deficient. If these resources were mobilised and used properly, we would not have been in such a deficit.” Mr. Bukhari added.

Emphasising the need for empowering women folk in Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “ Apni Party advocates women’s empowerment. It is a well-established fact that women constitute half of the population. If they remain economically, socially, and educationally disadvantaged, our entire society will lag behind. When Apni Party speaks of empowering society, it includes the social, economic, educational, and political empowerment of women.”

Reiterating his demand for the release of detainees, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukahri said, “Hundreds of people are in jail, yet nobody is talking about it. These politicians are not even raising the issue. How long will these people remain behind bars? Sadly, the parties that received a public mandate do not even speak on such matters. Look at how our youth are being humiliated and made to suffer. They are not being issued the police verification reports required for passports and jobs. They are being called to police stations repeatedly. All of this must change.”

Urging Centre government to initiate a dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari appealed to the Union Home Minister, saying, “I appeal to the Hon’ble Home Minister to initiate a dialogue with the people, especially the youth, to bridge the trust deficit and address their grievances.”

Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the prominent party leaders who were present on the occasion included Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Chairman PAC Mohammad Dilawar Mir, General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, Provincial President Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Chief Spokesperson & State Secretary Muntazir Mohiudin, Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, State Youth President & Spokesperson Yawar Dilawar Mir, President Women’s Wing Dilshad Shaheen, State Secretary Organisation & Spokesperson Dr Harbaksh Singh, District President Budgam Advocate Owais Ashraf Shah, Senior Vice President Budgam & Constituency In-charge Budgam Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, Jibran Dar, Shaista jee and others.
