Taking Quality Healthcare to the Last Mile: PARAS Health Srinagar Leads Mega Multi-Speciality Health Camp in Kargil

Kargil, June 13: In a significant step towards bridging healthcare gaps in remote and border areas of Jammu & Kashmir, PARAS Health Srinagar, in collaboration with Baqariya Health Care & Research Centre, Kargil, and the Health Wing of IKMT, organised a Mega Free Multi-Speciality Health Camp in Kargil town on Saturday.

The day-long camp, held at Baqariya Health Care & Research Centre from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, witnessed an overwhelming response from residents of Kargil and adjoining far-flung areas, who availed themselves of free consultations and expert medical advice from a team of specialists from PARAS Health Srinagar.

The initiative was aimed at bringing quality, affordable and specialised healthcare services closer to people living in geographically challenging and underserved regions. Hundreds of patients benefitted from consultations across multiple specialties, reinforcing the importance of outreach healthcare programmes in improving access to advanced medical care.

Residents and community members lauded the efforts of the PARAS Health administration and expressed gratitude to the visiting doctors and healthcare professionals for travelling long distances to serve patients at their doorsteps.

Dr. Murtuza Habib, Facility Director, PARAS Health Srinagar, said that ensuring access to quality healthcare for every citizen, irrespective of geography, remains central to the institution’s mission.

“At PARAS Health, we firmly believe that quality healthcare should not be limited by distance or location. Every individual deserves access to expert medical care, whether they live in a metropolitan city or a remote border district. Our outreach initiatives are driven by the commitment to take advanced healthcare services closer to communities that need them the most. Kargil holds a special place in our healthcare outreach efforts, and we will continue working towards making quality, compassionate and accessible healthcare a reality for all,” Dr. Habib said.

Organisers said such collaborative healthcare initiatives play a crucial role in early disease detection, health awareness and strengthening healthcare access in underserved regions. They reiterated their commitment to conducting similar programmes in remote parts of Jammu & Kashmir in the future. People of Kargil lauded the role of doctors, including Dr Mohd Maqbool Sohail (Director, Intervention Cardiology, Dr Mohd Yousuf Dar, Associate Director (Pulmonology), Dr Adil Ashraf, Senior Consultant Gastroenterology, Dr Raahil Rafiq, consultant, Neurosurgery, Dr Younis Mushtaq, Associate Consultant, Urology, Dr Suheel Ur Rehman, Consultant, Neuro and vascular Intervention radiology.

The organisers said that such camp reflects a growing partnership between healthcare institutions and community organisations aimed at ensuring that quality medical care reaches even the most distant corners of the Union Territory.
