Pulwama, August 30: The District Congress Committee (DCC) Pulwama today organised a strong political programme at Town Hall Pulwama under the banner of “Chhatron Ki Goonj” and “Chanda Chori”, raising serious questions over the policies of the BJP and highlighting issues concerning students, democracy and the common people.

The programme witnessed the participation of senior Congress leaders, party functionaries, NSUI office-bearers and a large number of workers. The speakers strongly criticised the BJP and alleged that the party has failed to address the genuine concerns of students, youth, farmers and ordinary citizens.

On the occasion, Ashiq Hussain Khanday and Abdul Qayoom, NSUI Block Presidents, along with senior workers and leaders from different political backgrounds, joined the Indian National Congress. A former District President of Janata Dal United (JDU) and senior workers associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also joined Congress, expressing their faith in the leadership and ideology of the party.

The new entrants were welcomed into the Congress fold by DCC President Pulwama Umer Jaan, who said that the joining of leaders and workers from different political backgrounds reflects the growing confidence in the Congress party and its commitment to democratic values and grassroots politics.

Umer Jaan said that Congress will continue to raise the voice of students and youth and will not remain silent on issues affecting the people. He said that the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” and “Chanda Chori” campaign is aimed at exposing what Congress considers to be anti-people policies and financial and political irregularities associated with the BJP.

Senior Congress leaders present on the occasion said that the Congress remains committed to strengthening its organisation at the grassroots level and giving workers and young people a meaningful platform in public life.

The programme concluded with a call to Congress workers to remain united, strengthen the party organisation at the booth and block levels, and continue raising the voice of the people through democratic means.
