Javid Dar lays foundation stones of major development projects in Rafiabad

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 3: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar laid the foundation stones of several important development projects in Rafiabad, covering education, healthcare, public amenities and recreational infrastructure.

The projects, involving a cumulative sanctioned cost of Rs 3.29 crore, are aimed at strengthening essential infrastructure and ensuring improved facilities and services for the people at their doorsteps.

At Nowpora (Tujer Sharief), the Minister laid the foundation stone for the development of a Children’s Park, to be executed by PW(R&B) Division Sopore, at a sanctioned cost of Rs 80 lakh. The facility will provide children with a dedicated space for recreation and outdoor activities while adding to the public amenities available in the area.

At Bomai, Javid Dar laid the foundation stone for the construction of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Laboratories besides an Additional Classroom Room (ACR) at Boys Secondary School Bomai under Samagra Shiksha. The project, to be executed by PW(R&B), has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 1.44 crore.

The Minister also laid the foundation stone for construction of a Mini Super Bazar at Bomai Zaingeer, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 55 lakh. The facility is envisaged to strengthen local market infrastructure and facilitate convenient access to essential commodities for the residents.

In the health sector, the Minister laid the foundation stone for construction of a Sub-Centre at Goripora, Darapora, at a sanctioned cost of Rs 50 lakh. The health facility will enhance access to basic healthcare services and further strengthen the rural healthcare network in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that strengthening grassroots infrastructure is central to the government’s development agenda, with focused attention being given to ensuring that people in rural and underserved areas have access to quality public facilities in their vicinity.

He said that development is meaningful only when it brings visible and tangible improvements to the lives of people, adding that infrastructure in sectors such as education, healthcare, recreation and basic amenities is being strengthened in a planned and phased manner.

Javid Dar emphasized that the projects being undertaken in Rafiabad reflect the government’s commitment to balanced, inclusive and people-centric development, with priority being accorded to improving public infrastructure and enhancing the quality of services at the grassroots level.

He directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure strict adherence to quality specifications, prescribed timelines and financial discipline, stressing that public-funded projects must be completed efficiently and to the satisfaction of the people.

The Minister further underscored the need for close monitoring of ongoing works and effective coordination among departments to ensure timely completion and optimal utilization of resources.

He reiterated that the government remains committed to accelerating development in rural areas and creating a stronger infrastructure base that contributes to improved quality of life, better public services and greater socio-economic opportunities for the people.
