Ganderbal, Sep 26: Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson and Minister of State Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Saturday inaugurated reconstruction and upgradation projects at three Ziyarat complexes at Rayil Gund in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The projects cover the Ziyarats of Hazrat Syed Jaffar Sahib (RA), Hazrat Syed Abdul Rehman Sahib (RA) and Syed Hajah Sahiba, and are aimed at improving infrastructure and providing better facilities to devotees and visitors.
Waqf Board members Syed Mohammad Hussain Haqqani and Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem, along with senior officials and engineers, including Dr Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq, Er. Rehmat Ullah Bhat, Er. Ghulam-e-Murtaza Shah, Er. Amir Yaqoob and Khursheed Ahmad Wani, were present on the occasion.
Speaking after the inauguration, Andrabi said the Waqf Board was committed to the preservation, reconstruction and systematic development of important religious and spiritual heritage sites across Jammu and Kashmir.
She said the upgradation of Ziyarats was not merely an infrastructure initiative but also an effort to preserve the region’s rich spiritual heritage and facilitate devotees.
The Waqf Board Chairperson stressed that better facilities at religious sites must be developed while maintaining their sanctity, traditional character and spiritual significance.
Andrabi also emphasised collective efforts to preserve the legacy of the Awliya-e-Kashmir, saying their message of spirituality, peace, compassion and human fraternity should continue to inspire future generations.
The officials accompanying the Chairperson briefed her about the scope and components of the projects. Andrabi directed the concerned authorities to ensure quality execution and timely completion of the works.
The inauguration marks another step towards the systematic development and preservation of Waqf-managed religious and spiritual sites in Jammu and Kashmir.
