Lethpora, September 26, Press Release: In compliance with the directions of Nitish Kumar-IPS, ADGP Armed J&K, a plantation drive was organized at the Battalion Headquarters of 23 JKAP IR, Lethpora, on September 26.
The plantation drive was led by Gh. Hassan-JKPS (SP), Commanding Officer, 23 JKAP IR, along with DySP(M) Mohd Yousuf, Adjutant, Lines Officer, PTO and other officers and jawans of the unit.
The drive was conducted in coordination with the Forest Division Awantipora with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and increasing green cover within the unit premises.
During the drive, 325 saplings of different varieties, including Cypress, Deodar and Pine, were planted by officers and personnel of the unit under the initiative “Ek Paed Ek Jawan.”
The initiative aimed to beautify the unit premises, improve the ecological environment and encourage a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection among the personnel.
Hakeem Mohd Altaf, Range Officer, along with officials of the Forest Department, provided guidance on suitable plantation practices, maintenance, watering and long-term care of the saplings.
Speaking on the occasion, Gh. Hassan-JKPS (SP), Commanding Officer, 23 JKAP IR, appreciated the collaborative efforts of the Forest Department and the participation of officers and personnel in the drive. He said that J&K Police is committed not only to maintaining law and order but also to social and environmental causes.
