The action was taken during routine patrolling by police under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kangan.

A patch of land measuring around one-and-a-half marlas was found cultivated with poppy plants, they said.

Preliminary enquiry revealed that the land was in possession of Ghulam Mohammad Najar, a resident of Thune, who had allegedly cultivated the contraband crop.

Accordingly, a case (FIR No. 32/2026) under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kangan and further investigation is underway.

Police said the drive against drug-related activities will continue and urged the public to share information about illegal cultivation and trafficking.(SM)
