PULWAMA, MAY 04: In a major move to curb the drug menace, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Pulwama today disqualified the driving licenses of two individuals heavily involved in drug-related crimes under the NDPS Act.

The action was taken following directions from Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom (IAS), and based on specific recommendations from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Awantipora.

The two individuals targeted in this crackdown have multiple FIRs registered against them across various police stations, including Pantha Chowk, Zainapora, Khrew, and Bemina.

The disqualified licenses belong to Umar Noor Bhat (JK1320170004514), son of Noor Mohammad Bhat, and Sameer Ahmad Bhat (JK1320080025356), son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Wuyan Khrew.

One of the accused is linked to three separate NDPS cases, while the other is involved in four different FIRs spanning from 2021 to 2025.

This decisive action highlights the growing coordination between the MVD and the Police Department to tackle the drug crisis through both legal and administrative channels. The District Administration has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, stating that strict measures will continue to be implemented to ensure a drug-free society.
