Pulwama: The Pensioners Welfare Forum Tral held a meeting at Town Hall Tral to discuss the demand for inclusion of pensioners in the 8th Pay Commission and to deliberate on the course of action for the ongoing struggle.
The meeting was attended by a large number of members of the forum from Tral sub-district. During the meeting, members expressed solidarity with the Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) at the central level and said they would extend their support to any programme launched in favour of pensioners.
On the occasion, Forum Member Farooq Trali said the meeting was held to discuss the issue of pensioners not being included in the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th Pay Commission.
He said the issue is a matter of serious concern for pensioners across the country and stressed the need for unity among pensioners to press for their inclusion and ensure that they receive the benefits of the 8th Pay Commission.
“We are with the Joint Consultative Machinery in every way, and whenever a programme is announced at the central level, we are ready to implement it,” Farooq Trali said.
He further appealed to pensioners to remain united and support the ongoing struggle for their rights.
Trali warned that if the demand is not addressed by the Central Government and the authorities concerned, pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir would be compelled to come onto the streets and intensify their agitation.
