Fire Safety & Disaster Management Training conducted at Govt. HSS Ghat (Doda)

500 students trained so far under the district wide initiative

DODA, AUGUST 30: In continuation with the District wide initiative and under the directions of the District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal and under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, a training programme on Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Fire Safety and Disaster Management was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Ghat (Doda).

The programme was jointly organized by the Health Department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Fire & Emergency Department, with the objective of equipping students, teachers and staff with essential life-saving skills and practical knowledge to respond effectively during medical emergencies, fire incidents and disasters.

It being a district-wide initiative, more than 500 students, teachers and staff of different educational institutions across the district have so far been trained in BLS, CPR, fire incident management, fire safety and disaster-response techniques.

The training session at Govt. HSS Ghat was initiated by District Nodal Officer, Disaster Management (Medical Wing), Dr. Hamid Parray. The BLS and CPR demonstration was conducted by Senior Medical Officer Dr. Nasir Masood. He explained and practically demonstrated essential life-saving techniques, including appropriate responses during medical emergencies.

From the Fire & Emergency Department, Karinal Singh conducted a practical demonstration on the proper use of fire extinguishers and sensitized the participants to fire prevention, safety precautions and emergency management.

Representing the SDRF, Vijay Kumar demonstrated basic rescue operations and response techniques to be adopted during disasters and other emergency situations.

The trainers emphasized the importance of remaining calm, assessing the situation, ensuring personal safety and providing timely assistance to victims until professional emergency services arrive. The practical demonstrations provided participants with hands-on understanding of appropriate responses during medical, fire and disaster emergencies.

At the conclusion of the session, the In-charge Principal, teachers and participants expressed their gratitude to the District Administration Doda, Health Department, SDRF and Fire & Emergency Department for organizing the valuable training initiative. They appreciated the efforts of the master trainers in imparting practical knowledge and empowering students and staff with crucial life-saving and disaster-response skills.
