Devsar (Kulgam) Oct 22: Thousands of fish have been found dead in a local trout farm at Kilam area of Devsar belt in south kashmiri’s Kulgam district on Tuesday morning with owner of the farm citing contaminated water from ongoing bridge construction in Brazloo.
Nisar Ahmad Shan, owner of the fish farm blamed on reckless digging for the foundation of the bridge over Veshow Nallah Brazloo which has polluted the water and has killed the fish at his farm.
“I had set up the unit after a lot of hard work thinking that it would be beneficial for my family, but due to the sudden flow of dirty water into the fish farm led to polluting of water in it. When I visited the farm, I found thousands of trout fish dead,” he said.
He urged district administration Kulgam to compensate us as my entire family was rely on this farm
Upon contacting to Fisheries inspector Kulgam, Irfan Ahmad told that “he had received a report from the concerned field officials that they (Owner and the Contractor) have come to the terms of negotiation between themselves.
On the other hand, Junior Engineer NH444, Suhail Ahmad, told that “he had taken up the matter with higher ups and directed concerned contractor to compensate the farm owner for the loss”.
