Srinagar, 27 Dec: Dr. Harbaksh Singh, District Development Council (DDC) Member from Tral, met with the Director of Tourism, Kashmir, to discuss the upliftment of tourist spots in the region. During the meeting, Dr. Singh highlighted various issues related to the development of already designated tourist locations and unexplored hidden destinations in Tral.
Dr. Singh specifically emphasized the need to operationalize the huts constructed under the Cable Car Project at Shikargah, Tral. Despite their completion, the huts have not been handed over for tourism-related activities, which could greatly boost the area’s appeal to visitors.
In addition, Dr. Singh underscored the importance of developing and promoting other designated tourist spots like Panner Dam, Aripal, and Naristan, as well as exploring the potential of hidden gems such as Nagberan and Lam. He also stressed the need to promote pilgrim and heritage tourism in Tral, given the area’s cultural significance and its proximity to the national highway, which makes it an accessible destination for tourists.
The Director of Tourism assured Dr. Singh of immediate action, particularly in operationalizing the Shikargah huts. He also emphasized the department’s commitment to promoting tourism in Tral and assured that measures would be taken to flourish the region as a tourist destination in the near future.
Dr. Harbaksh Singh expressed his gratitude to the Director for his patient hearing and assurance of prompt redressal of the issues raised.
