Seven Vehicles Seized in Ganderbal for Illegal Mining and Mineral Transportation: Police

Ganderbal: In a major crackdown on illegal mining, Ganderbal Police in collaboration with the Geology & Mining Department seized seven vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals across the district on Tuesday.

According to officials, three tractors and four tippers loaded with illegally extracted minor minerals from Nallah Sindh were intercepted in the jurisdictions of PS Ganderbal, PS Lar, and PS Kheerbawani.

The seized vehicles include those bearing registration numbers: JK16B/5052, CH No.T0535608590K, JK16/2055, JK01M/7269, JK03A/6184, JK01P/1891, and JK04A/9869.

Police said the action reflects their strong commitment to curb illegal mining activities and to safeguard natural resources of the district. “Strict legal measures will be taken against violators to maintain environmental balance,” an official added.

Authorities also urged the public to cooperate by reporting such illegal practices in their localities, assuring confidentiality of informants.
