Srinagar, Press Release: Dr. Harbaksh Singh has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Kuldeep Singh on being conferred the Dr. Harbajan Singh Memorial Award by the Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi.
While congratulating Prof. Singh, Dr. Harbaksh Singh stated that this distinguished honour is not only a matter of pride for Prof. Kuldeep Singh and his family, but also a moment of great pride for the entire Sikh community of India and for the people of Tral.
Prof. Kuldeep Singh, a resident of village Ovarigund, Tral, is among the most accomplished and globally respected agricultural scientists from Kashmir. A plant breeder by profession and a leading biotechnologist of international repute, he has made outstanding contributions to the field of plant genetic resources.
He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. Over the years, he has held several prestigious positions, including Director, School of Biotechnology at Punjab Agricultural University, and later Director of ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi. Presently, he is heading the Gene Bank Wing of the international CGIAR institute, ICRISAT.
Beyond his illustrious professional career, Prof. Kuldeep Singh’s family has also brought immense pride to the region. His only son, Dr. Sanjum Singh, has successfully qualified the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination, further adding to the family’s achievements.
Prof. Kuldeep Singh’s contributions and accomplishments are so vast that it is difficult to encapsulate them in a single message.
