Press Note
Ganderbal, August 30: BJP State Executive Member Mohammad Amin Shah has appealed to the people of Kashmir, particularly the people of Ganderbal district, to participate in the Secretariat Gherao on September 2 against what he termed the National Conference (NC) government’s failure to deliver good governance, fulfil its promises and address the growing concerns of the people.
Shah said the people of Jammu & Kashmir had been promised development, relief and responsive governance, but the government has failed to live up to those expectations. He strongly criticised the hike in power tariffs, saying it has placed an additional financial burden on common households, traders and businesses. He urged the people of Kashmir to come forward and join the peaceful democratic programme at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, and make their concerns heard.
“People cannot remain silent when promises are not fulfilled and common citizens are burdened with increased power tariffs. The Secretariat Gherao on September 2 is an opportunity for the people to democratically raise their voice and demand accountability from the NC government,” Shah said. He particularly called upon the people of Ganderbal to participate in large numbers and demonstrate their opposition to policies that, he said, are causing hardship to the people. Shah reiterated that the BJP will continue to stand with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and raise public issues through democratic and constitutional means.
