Srinagar, Nov 02, 2026: Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), Sempora, Srinagar, on Monday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Dialysis Unit, marking a significant step towards strengthening specialised healthcare services and improving patient care.
The facility is expected to provide relief to patients requiring regular dialysis, reduce their dependence on distant hospitals and enhance access to essential renal care services in the area.
The facility was inaugurated by Executive Director KMCH, Insha Qazi in presence of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ahmad Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Mubashir, Heads of various Departments, faculty members, doctors and other staff members of the institution.
The five-bedded facility, which addresses a long-felt need in the region, will cater to patients from Zewan, Pulwama, Pampore, Sempora and other adjoining areas of Srinagar and south Kashmir.
Dialysis services will be provided at affordable rates, making specialised treatment more accessible to patients who often require multiple sessions every week.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director KMCH, Insha Qazi, said the inauguration of the Dialysis Unit was part of the institution’s continued efforts to expand its healthcare services and ensure that patients receive quality treatment closer to their homes.
She said the facility would significantly benefit patients suffering from kidney-related ailments, particularly those who face difficulties travelling long distances for regular dialysis sessions.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ahmad Khan said the inauguration of the Dialysis Unit was not merely the addition of another medical facility but reflected the institution’s commitment to providing better healthcare services to the people.
He said KMCH had been working consistently since its inception to strengthen medical infrastructure, introduce specialised services and ensure quality patient care.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Mubashir said the facility would prove to be a major boon for people catchment areas of the KMC.
He said the availability of dialysis services at affordable rates would reduce the burden on patients and their attendants, who otherwise have to travel long distances for regular treatment.
