Srinagar, September 21–22, 2026: The Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (KIMST), affiliated with the University of Kashmir and recognized by the Nursing Council and Allied Health Sciences, J&K Government, organized its 5th Two-Day Orientation Cum Induction Programme for 1st Semester students for the academic session 2026–2027 on 21st and 22nd September 2026.
Dr. Asmat Parveen, Professor-cum-Principal and Convener, addressed the gathering and placed on record sincere appreciation for the Director, Deputy Director, Administrative Officer and Special Guest Dr. Nida for their vision, commitment and perseverance in building KIMST as an institution serving a wider public purpose.
She noted that the institution is not only contributing towards quality education but is also creating employment opportunities for teaching and non-teaching professionals and bringing professional education closer to students. She also appreciated the teaching and non-teaching staff, whose dedication, cooperation and hard work have contributed significantly to the growth and progress of KIMST, emphasizing that the institution’s achievements are a collective effort.
Welcoming the new students, she said that joining KIMST is not merely about entering a college but becoming part of a professional community built on knowledge, skills, discipline, service, compassion and humanity. She assured the students that the institution would strive to provide the best possible teaching resources, practical exposure, modern training methods and a healthy learning environment to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.
She highlighted KIMST’s commitment to quality education, skill development, discipline, leadership, and compassionate healthcare.
Dr. Hafizullah Naik, Director and Chief Guest, Dr. Fehmeeda, Deputy Director, Guest of Honour, and Dr. Nida, Special Guest, interacted with the students. Dr. Naik emphasized discipline, punctuality, respect for teachers, professional conduct, and responsible communication of genuine academic concerns through proper channels.
An Oath Ceremony, conducted by Ms. Insha Nabi, Faculty and College Management, formally welcomed the students into the healthcare profession and reinforced their commitment to professional and ethical responsibilities.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Nazisha Farooq, Vice Principal (Allied Health), who acknowledged the contribution of the Director, Principal, faculty, Administrative Officer Mr. Salik Naik, students, and all those involved in making the programme successful.
Earlier, the inaugural session was addressed by Mr. Gh. Ahmad Mir, Vice Principal (Nursing), who welcomed the students.
The subsequent two-day orientation-cum-induction sessions covered institutional vision and mission, examination and assessment, college committees, evaluation criteria, scholarship guidelines, professional etiquettes, qualities of a nurse, library rules, professional code of ethics, human values, curriculum planning, etc.
The sessions were conducted by Dr. Asmat, Mr. G. A. Mir, Mr. Muddasir, Mr. Sheikh Aabid Hussain, Ms. Kamroosh, and Ms. Sumaya.
The programme provided the newly admitted students with a meaningful introduction to the academic, professional, ethical, and institutional culture of KIMST, preparing them to begin their educational journey with discipline, competence, responsibility, and compassion (Press Release).
