Pulwama, September 20: The Day 4 celebrations of Sewa Parv witnessed a series of diverse activities across Pulwama district, reflecting the spirit of service, awareness, and community engagement. Various departments came together to organise programmes aimed at promoting environmental protection, health care, digital literacy, and social welfare.
A special plantation initiative titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organised across schools of the district, in convergence with the Social Forestry Department. Under this drive, every student planted a sapling within school premises and in designated community areas and also pledged to take care of it. The initiative created awareness among students about environmental conservation while building a personal bond of responsibility with nature.

The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department organised plantation drives around Amrit Sarovars, thereby promoting the protection and beautification of these water bodies.
The Social Welfare Department engaged with the elderly and vulnerable sections of society and distributed assistive devices including wheelchairs, motorised tricycles, and hearing aids. These efforts not only addressed immediate needs but also emphasised inclusivity and care for all sections of the community while s part of the education-focused initiative “Volunteering in Schools for Special Classes”, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Dr. S.M Ashraf Visited orphanage centres and schools where he delivered lectures and also donated books, stationery, blankets and clothes among the underprivileged students.
As part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, the Health Department organised Mega Medical Camps, where people availed multiple health services and consultations. The department also spread awareness about preventive healthcare and women’s health.
In addition, several digital literacy camps and awareness programmes were conducted across different locations. These camps aimed to equip citizens, particularly women and youth, with basic digital skills, ensuring greater access to government services and digital platforms.
